grounds up problem (not a newbie)
why doesnt he even intro iostream's library, like it or not it is the standard. I prefer cout << ""; over printf(""); some dont but people should know both.

They are his tutorials, and he can write them how he want's to. I can't speak for him, but i suspect that it has to do with the hidden layers of complexity involved when describing stream IO. eg. why the hell are you using the bit shift opperators to print stuff to the screen?
