I would like to rally to create a GDNet get-together for the southern california residents of gdnet! December 18th 2004
The 18th falls on a saturday so it's good for us full-time workers. Hopefully we can get as many people as possible with this date, if not I propose pushing it back a bit if it will get us a few more members.

UPDATE 11/11/04: Apparently this has picked up some steam and has even been stickyfied so I'm going to take a leaf from the GDNet Ontario's book and give updates on the first page. UPDATE 11/16/04: This is going very well :) We have over a month until the meet date and already have 9 people who say they will go ^_^ UPDATE 12/11/04: Just keeping this up-to-date. The meeting day grows nigh!

I think im going to be in So. Cal. some time around Christmas... I dont think my parents would let me go hang out with a bunch of people I hardly know... I'm only 16 (17 in 19 days).

Well you never know, we could really beef this up into a legit style meeting that might pass your parent's requirements ;D

I'd surely be up for such a meeting. I go to school at UC Irvine, so I'm right in Orange County.

An aside to smaller GDNet meetings: once a year a global GDNet meeting is held. The location is picked to be the geometric center of every active/interested member's location. If it happens to be over the ocean or any other impractical place then it's held in the closest, economically efficient place.

I might be interested, depending on when it is. If it were closer to San Diego, I'd definitely be there.

Seconded. Irvine (some time around Christmas) would perfect for me, my aunt, the ones house whom I will most likely be staying at is like... in Irvine.

I was going to be helpful and post a regularly updated map but I got lazy just after googling for southern california images (searching for a good map gets old really quick with a 56k connection). The bottom right picture made me laugh though.

My parents said they would drive me... to wherever, I say we meet at the Irvine center(or whatever its call, the huge shopping center area in Irvine) some time around Christmas.

They know I cant be on a computer wihtout reading through these forums, I told my mom I wanted to meet some people from GDnet... She understands, I think. But it would be better if I oculd get a ride from someone else [smile] If this actually works out I can give you the adress to my aunts house, she lives like... literally 2 minutes from Irvine.

So how do all the potential attendees feel about having the meeting in Irvine? Also, what time? Lethalhamster seems to really want it around Christmas--that'd probably be fine with me, as well.

Time of day doesnt matter to me [smile] but around Christmas is when I'll be in the area.

I say someone blurt out a day and time and location and we all see what we can do.
