I want to know if a compnay like....oh lets just say Blizzard. the makers of diablo and diablo2. Is there a position in that company and lets say others that u don''t do programming, not the website, and not encrypt. Like a person who makes the story line, tells people what the levels look like, what charcters are, do, look like, and the objective of the game. Is their hiring positions for any of these? is that a job? is their a college course in this? how do you get pciked for it? i would prefer your replies by e-mail. My addres is mole567@yahoo.com Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you''re talking about designers. The problem with designers is that EVERYONE wants to be one. If everyone out there who is convinced that he has a fantastic game design was working in the industry, the world''s programmers would have a todo list that would take a thousand years to finish.

It''s not impossible to get a job there, but it''s not usually an entry-level position. I think that you need at least some experience working with games before you can have a shot at this. Maybe you could try getting a job as a tester somewhere? It''s also probably a good idea to try picking up something else -- programming, 3D modeling, whatever. A designer with all-around knowledge of that sort will have a better idea of what it takes to implement the kinds of things in his design, and what is feasible and what is not.

You''d probably be better off asking about this in the Game Design forum...

Well Now,

One thing that many people have suggested to me is that you try and volounteer for similar jobs in that filed unpaid. That way the comapny gets work done quicker for less money and you get that all important experience. Of course the flaw is that with no experience to start with it is sometimes quite difficult to get a job to get experience. And also companys might be reluctant for all the hassle of training you or adding a new member that has no experinece. But hey it was all I could think of. Hope it helps...
