First of all: I respect your effort very much to help others for free.
I've gone to your site and wanted to apply, but:
"- You will need the following softwares: 3Ds Max version 6 or 7, Maya, C++ Compiler, and some other programs that the teacher might be required."
A C++ can be found anyway, but could you suggest an alternative for 3Ds Max or Maya? (what can be used instead of these)
These are AAA softwares with AAA prices.

Hi Peter,
The reason we use the 3Ds Max and Maya because those are two main 3D modeling and animation programs out there that most companies use, where I work they use them extensively too.
Maya - You can download student version for free of charge. The downside is that there is a watermark on every render you make from this version. Otherwise the features are the same with retail version.
3Ds Max - They have a 30 days trail software for you to use. During the 30 days trial, it's a good length for you to use them in the course. Otherwise you can use the gmax version.
As you know, we only offer few courses in art side so that those courses will give you a good foundation to build your own 3D Models without the needing to use google to search for a model.
hope that helps

for max or maya training......and you can get a maya ple version.....
i would go to 3dbuzz.com
they have free trainingand for $150 you can buy C++ vtm's that cover making a game and how to use wxWidgets.......and in the next few months they will be coming out with more C++ vtm's and wxWidgets stuff.........that currently is in the works
the C++ vtm's cover almost anything you need for a 2d game.....
just guessing but the next C++ vtm's might be involving 3D

Hey,
its a great idea and I love what your trying to do for the community. I wanted to enroll because i figure i could contribute a lot to the classes, and use the last 2 to learn d3d again (as im an OpenGL-er). But I must admit i was *VERY* turned off by the fact that you require even those who wish to pursue programming, to do 3d modeling, the rift between artists and programmers is huge, and, if youve ever seen any programmer's art, you can tell why ;-). Having said that, I know I was discouraged but I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to join up. Change it an I'm in ;-), if you don't, good luck to you, I think its a great contribution to the community no matter what.

Hi Dan,
Those are the only two 3d classes that we required our students to take. That way at least they have a foundation in 3d modeling and animation using the two popular software, 3Ds Max and Maya, to create their own 3d models.
The working URL now is http://gameprogramming.org

hey,
Maybe a stupid question but: What's the time zone? I mean "Class Start Date
Wednesday, February 16 (09:55 PM)" is it GMT or ...?
And how long is a course? (Can't really find it on the website, or didn't found it)
:/
