OK, this is a big suggestion here but listen up. I''m coming from a post in the Lounge about a GameDev club. The guy, Mighty Monkey, was asking where he could go to find a place where he could kick around game ideas and join a team on a project. So I thought, well, what if there was a new section created here at GameDev that let people register on as team leaders or project members (or just members). Members could kick ideas around in a private forum for that section. Team leaders are the members who start up a team to make a game. The teams can be tracked from the site so team members can stay in touch easier and have a place to meet to discuss stuff. Also, teams can request the help of other teams or even merge if they find that they are doing the same kind of stuff. Like I said, this is a big suggestion and Dave''s probably getting that feeling in his stomach like "Oh man, they want me to do WHAT?!" But I think it could be a big improvement to the site (not to say it sucks or anything) and allow a lot of people to start developing their dream games. ============================== "Need more eeenput..." - #5, "Short Circuit" ==============================

Im up for that... I need some people working on my DOC. Also, MKV might want to use it for Goblin (unless he is really keen at sticking with sourceforge)...

Anyway... It is a good idea

Oh man, you want me to do what?

Seriously, we''ve had the idea to do this for a long time, but haven''t had time to implement it yet. It''ll probably happen, but I can''t say when yet. (I have so many outstanding requests right now...)

yo myopic rhino.

i posted last time about my senior project being something similar to gamedev.net, where developers can flock to discuss coding. well, most of the ideas we have have come down to things like a user login, message boards, maybe chat, and also this graphing utility that allows creation of UML graphs and uploading in XML format to the site for public viewing. do you think this is too much for a group of 4 college students? (the graphing part is the only requirement)

How about this Myopic Rhino, is there anyway we could help. Maybe the staff could just organise this an let the members work on it. Actually i''ve got absolutely no idea what i''m talking about, it was just i thought.

Hey,
Some of you may have read some previous posts of mine in the ''Business'' forum. The new company that I founded with Eric Steere (steere@pcgamesforyou.com) acts as a sort of online publisher for small development teams. At first we wanted to promote indie developers nad offer freeware, however we came acorss http://www.madmonkey.net, which offers almost exactly the same service. For that reason, we changed our mission to build online development teams, provide financial aid, manage development processes, and distribute games. So our service is just about the same thing as what you were talking about, except that it will take a more formal approach; contracts will be used to ensure that all work is submitted by deadlines.

All of this will work through our web site (www.pcgamesforyou.com). We are currently developing the database... It will be a free service, although we will collect commissions from sold games.

What do you guys think?
