Texture back into a bitmap

Hi people Does anyone know how to take a stored texture and place the data (RGBA) into a 24bit bitmap? I am writing a small tile editor with a tile egine that renders under OpenGL. It just makes life easier to save the image as a bitmap under windows. Any ideas people? Thanks in advance!
