Strange problem with GDI and DD

Please read the SDK documentation. This is outlined in the SDK Documentation.

I'm creating a map editor for my next game using DirectDraw full screen mode. I need to call some Win32 functions like MessageBoxes, GetOpenFileName etc..., for information. The problem is that sometimes the dialogs don't appear on the screen. Is there any 'trick', to make MessageBox and Dialogs always appear on a DD fullscreen application ?

Hint: use the FlipToGDISurface function.
