Hey, I am a programmer looking to mess around with 3D models and get used to the programming side of things but I am having a hard time finding any site that really has either free or cheap animated model packs to mess around with. Particually I am looking for models that are already in the .X format or something and I am trying to find a dice model. Does anyone know of any good sites where I can find these?

Hi Nabren,

We have a few free 3D models on our website's Downloads page. You can use them for anything you like as long as CoffeeShark is mentioned in the credits.

Also if you want us to make you models, we'd be happy to do that too. Check out our Sticky topic right here on GameDev for more info, examples and contact details.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Dennis

If you can read quake3 formats e.g., you'll find lots of characters here
http://planetquake.gamespy.com/...

They all have the basic animations, so you can use them instantly.
I guess from other games there are also lots of characters and mods available.
