ghost taskbar tabs

When i kill a fullscreen window the taskbar tab is left there as a ghost until i click on it, then it disappear. I''m trying to find out what is causing this. It doesn''t happen with windowed windows and i''m not using directx. Any idea?

Does this *always* happen? It happens to me sometimes in Win98, but it''s not related to the applications whose taskbar buttons remain I dont think.. I''ve seen it happen with virtually every fullscreen game I''ve run, as well as to screensavers.

Yea it does it everytime i kill a fullscreen window, if i try to create/kill windows several times i end up with a bunch of ghost tabs in the taskbar.. Other apps like q3 (almost) never do this here.
I get this too from my code. I live with it - but if anyone finds a solution be sure to let me know. It looks a little unprofessional.
actually, I think this only happens in debug mode IIRC...
