There are some good people almost everywhere, if searching carefully for people to trust. Actually, many people around the world are good to exactly those they trust, but maybe they don't care about others that they don't trust because they can only afford to care about themselves.
I'm not sure if that makes humans bad, or if it makes them good to their close family but not many more.

If the person has watched that many movies, maybe they caused some paranoia. For me, movies about realistic conspiracies has at least changed my way of thoughts a little.
A standard example is The Matrix, which made me think about human consciousness more than before. And books about ghosts affected me a bit when I was young, the lamp issue is pretty much standard.
