OpenAL and ALUT

GLUT is a great education framework for OpenGL, but it eventually requires a more serious framework such as SDL. I am in the process of learning OpenAL. Does ALUT fall under the same category as GLUT? Should I use ALUT for education only? Or is it robust enough for deployment in final products? Are there any serious performance issues?

Really? No one knows the answer to this at all? :(

Alut is a helper library that you don't have to attach yourself to it everytime you use it. It allows you to do all OpenAL initialization yourself and use the context as you wish. It has a few nifty functions that will cover basics but it's nothing you couldn't do yourself. In any case, code is available at Creative's web site, look for it.
