If anybody uses Unity 3d(free) please tell me how it runs, overall review on it and if it could be used in agame where you break out of prison.

I use Unity 3D, it runs pretty well. And it can be used for a game where you break out of prison.
You'll probably get more relevant help in For Beginners than Game Design, so I'll move this there.
