Fixed Point Arithmetic in architectures wit FPU

is it worth having only fixed point operations in architectures with FPUs? for example, if im developing a "windows only" PC game should i use it? (targeting "modern" cpus -- 5 years old max)and what about netbooks?If so, why? or in which cases would be recommended to use it?thanks in advance
