Hello everyone biggrin.gif

I am the Open Source Project manager for the Multiverse MMO Development Platform (which recently went Open Source) <-[duh!]

A lot has changed in the past few years, and the platform was originally closed source and charged 10% on all your revenue. However, that's all changed.
We went Open Source a few months back, and we're currently updating the original source code to make sure it's keeping up with the times. As the Open Source Project Manager, one of the things I need to do is generate developer interest, and creating a burgeoning community of awesome people who have a big dream - making the next World of Warcraft (and every other MMO that's made billions of dollars)

Now, down to the important details.
  • The Platform is now completely free (with no revenue sharing)
  • The code is Open Source, under the MIT License - to those that aren't familar with MIT, it basically means that you can get the code and do whatever you want with it, and use it commercially, without needing to even display the word Multiverse anywhere in your game! (Though we'd appreciate it!)
  • Getting started with Multiverse is incredibly easy, and you can develop a great MMO with only a few people (as long as you have a programmer!)
  • The languages you'll need to know are Java (for server coding) and Python (for client coding) and XML for any User Interface coding you want to do.
  • We have an excellent Wiki, with tons of user-created tutorials, ranging from modelling in Blender and 3DS max, to developing plugins that let your players fly, and have pets! There are loads more features, but you may as well head over to our Forums at http://multiverse.forumotion.co.uk (our temporary site, until we get ownership of the old site) and find out more there.
You could also check out the original Multiverse website, but that's currently being rewritten to reflect the transition to Open Source. Here's the site: http://www.multiverse.net.You can also check out our Wiki, which is located at: http://update.multiverse.net/wiki
Finally, the actual source code can be downloaded here: https://sourceforge....s/multiverse3d/ - make sure you follow the instructions on the projects Wiki page. If you have any problems, head over to the forum, and we'll be happy to help!

If you'd like to ask us any questions about the Multiverse Engine, and how it can help you and your dream to create the next World of Warcraft, either sign up and post in our forum, or send me an email to my own personal development address at boomerang-studios [at] gmx.com.
You can also hit us up on Twitter - [twitter]MultiverseMMO[/twitter]

Lastly, thanks for reading, and we look forward to seeing as many of you in the Forums as possible!

    Thanks,
