one last question for .3ds to .x

Ok I think the conv3ds converter works now. but I don''t know where I''m suppose to pu my 3ds file so that the converter can find it. or do I just type in the whole file name?
this is what I''ve been doing. Please tell me what I''m doing wrong?
I go to ms_dos prompt...
and this is what I type in.
c:\mssdk\bin\dxutil\xfiles\conv3ds.exe alien.3ds
I just don''t understand. I''m sure I''m just being stupid and it''s really easy but I just don''t see it. please help.
Reality is what it is because that''''s what you make it.
You have to specify the FULL pathname to the file, ie:
c:\mssdk\bin\dxutil\xfiles\conv3ds.exe d:\myprograms\meshes\alien.3ds
c:\mssdk\bin\dxutil\xfiles\conv3ds.exe d:\myprograms\meshes\alien.3ds
Go through yourfolders and move the conv3ds util to the c: drive. Then also do the same with your 3ds file. Then type this in at the prompt. First you change the drive and location and then its easy
cd c:\
conv3ds alien.3ds
cd c:\
conv3ds alien.3ds
