Hello everyone!
Could you help me how to do pluck (pulse) sound like in Deus Ex Ambience tracks such as

(0:16 - 0:50)? Thanks in advance!

“Pluck” style synthesizer with delay/reverb, layered on top of some ambient pad synth. Make your notes very short with 1/16 notes. Use an envelope-driven low pass filter on the synthesizer (most support this), and set the attack very fast and release to taste. You could maybe want to use an arpeggiator to produce the repetitive notes, but it could be programmed as MIDI manually. Some arppegiators have a “gate” setting which can be used to ensure that all notes have short duration with space between. There is also some other modulation effects over the whole mix it seems, e.g. another filter modulated by LFO.

Hello! What wave (or waves) should I use?

It sounds like a low-pass filtered saw wave to me. You also might have success with “string” synthesis, also known as Karplus-Strong synthesis, if your synth supports it. KS synthesis produces a similar pluck-like sound with the right settings for the low pass filter.

@undefined Thanks! What books would you recommend to read about synthesis, waves and sound design?
