I just added fire into a scene and I would like to get a general glow to eminate from the fire. The parts of the floor near the fire would be brighter than those that are farther away. How do I do this. I tried attenuation but it doesnt give me the effect I am looking for. Am I using it wrong? Is there another way? Anyone have some examples? Thanks.
Well, that was a waste of 2 minutes of my life. Now I have to code faster to get 'em back...

Have you tried putting a redish light around the fire?
Remember that most lighting is calculated per-vertex, so if you just have one quad you need to seperate it into many to get any lighting effects. Otherwise, attenuation is the effect to go for here, if it isn''t working right just turn it up or fiddle with it. Another alternative would be to lightmap it.
