Protecting your ideas?

Actually, the US patent office seems to let you patent just about anything that is related to computers in any way, it might not stand up in court though...

You can patent inventions, but you can copyright ideas.

Basically, things that can be used can be patented, things in print, or in other media form, can be copyrighted.
No, you cannot copyright an idea. Only the written/recorded form of it. There''s nothing to stop someone reading it and implementing it themselves.
