1. Searching for a credible maze monster's behaviour

Why not think of the maze itself as being the Monster.  Where as if you fail to escape in time it, the maze, consumes you.  The simplest effect of being consumed would be to have a hole open up under the player's feet and have him or her sucked into the darkness.
2. xna dead?

Well, if you do wish to contenue using XNA, you might consider Mono Game.  Mono Game is an open source implementation of XNA 4.  It's been pretty easy to migrate XNA projects to MG too.
3. New tool to aid development.
"I want to create an easy to use all-in-one tool that will ease or eliminate the development process of the core systems(graphics, physics, loading models etc)." I already have one it's called Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express.
If that works best for you, great! But think about this for a moment if you would. How many people want to develop a game but don't have the time or the patience to learn how everything actually works? Or perhaps is just lazy and want stuff to work with minimal effort. What I'm proposing is closer to a tool for newbie than more seasoned developers. A tool where one can start it up and just create away without having to think about the how. But also flexible enough to allow the more seasoned to modify as they see fit.
4. So I'm starting work on a project that I hope will become a useful tool for other developers. I'm still fairly new to game development myself but I want to create an easy to use all-in-one tool that will ease or eliminate the development process of the core systems(graphics, physics, loading models etc). One of the things I'm planning to do is have this tool revolve around components. Such components as a chat system, inventory, input, graphics or physics. This way the end user can easy swap from one a default system to one Foo Bar made or even one their own creation if they so desire and the easy of doing so would be just to select the wanted one from a list of loaded components. Also allowing for adding new components easily so one can spend more time on developing the game itself rather than everything required to get to that point. Now I realize I have not gone into very much detail, but I would like to hear from you fellow developers. I prepared a short list below to help get the discussion started. comments opinions features that should be included features that should be required (like copy and paste to a text editor) suggestions for me as the solo programmer on the project
5. I was sitting around one day writing get and set methods with and on update event. Needless to say I got tired of typing(copy paste & modify), so I decided to make a tool to cut down on the time spent writing them. So far I've only written tools to generate Set/Get methods. But it got me wondering... does any one else write tools to generate code or preform another helper function while coding? Here's my C# tool to write C++ gets/sets. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MCOG0M7X
