Hi, I know this isn''t exactly the right forum, but since noone reads help wanted... I am looking for a concept artist. I''ve been working on the design for a while, and now that I am putting together the design document, I want illustrations to accompany it. The game is set in distant future, with robots fighting among each other on mountains, hills, etc. The landscape is completely dead, like after the nuclear explosions. You don''t need to be able to use any programs, all u need to do is draw the stuff on paper, scan it, and mail it to me. Of course that could also be a chalange If you are interested please post here for details.

I don''t mean to sound cynical (or saying that I could do much better) but what you have described to me is a bit cliched. I''m only 17 and obviously not in the industry, so if you are in the industry, I''m not trying to tell you how to do your job but that''s how it seems. I''d normally be interested in your offer but I''m doing my last year in high school and the scenario you''ve described sounds a bit boring a genetic. I''m interested to see though if you are employed in the games industry or if you''re just pitching your design doc to a publisher or developer.

I am not employed in the game industry. I work as a programmer in the internet startup company. Game development I do on the side.

I could start developing a first person shooter, or a huge strategy game, but I simply don''t have the resources to start this project.

However, I know that I have enough resources to work on this project. Since the game is online, I thought about how much money I would have to invest in the server, domain, etc, etc. That, I can pull off. After this project is complete I will hopefully have enough resources to move on to something more serious.

Once again, I can tell you and take responsibility for my words, for startups in any industry, you have to look at your resources and see what you can pull off. It''s usually better to do something small yet new, with a twist that you have the resources to finish, instead of doing something big, but with almost no chance of finishing it.
What genre exactly are you talking about?
A beat`em up (like One Must Fall) or action, or strategy?
I´d just like to know.

Hase
Action. Basically robots shooting each other. Weapons will be based on converting energy(lightning, fireball, plasmaball, etc). The view is overhead, but everything will be done in true 3D(kinda like GTA engine).
Hiya,
I have to say, whilst the idea isn''t groundbreaking...it does sound like to has the potential to be a lot of fun!

Are there anymore details you could disclose? Have you found yourself an illustrator yet...I would be interested in knowing a little more about the game. e.g The goal, is it purely action based? What age group are you targeting? What illustrational work would you require and how soon? Colour or Black & White? [or a combination] Maybe I can help?

Okay
That''s me done!
Hey kill,

I''m prepared to do some concept art for you, I''ll whip up some stuff, and if it''s not your cup-a-tea then you''ll just have to live with it (unless you can find some other illustrator. . . he he)

BTW, are you doing this in OpenGL?

Just pondering. . .
FReY
do unto others... and then run like hell.
Hmmmm sounds pretty vage?
I think we want some DETAILS,
And some idea of you skills.
Thanks.
