The next NeHe contest

Since NeHe posted that he was looking at doing another contest, I thought I would see what people are interested in doing. I know the LOTR contests are getting old, but on a personal level, that is what I would like to do. I finally have enough under my belt I think I can make a demo. I guess my main problem for a mini-demo is that I think it takes a lot of knowledge to make a demo that is nice and runs in a tight space. Granted contests are great for giving that knowledge, but I think I like the larger formats, it is exciting to see what our imaginations can bring forth and make visual for others to see. So, when it comes down to it, what kind of contest would you be interested in participating in? Thanks, Clutch

I have a neat idea for a return of the king demo contest that I would like to try out; its not as ambitious as my two towers attempt so im sure i''ll get it finished in time.
What about a game contest like the sleazysoft one? I personally like the idea of making a small game for a contest, anyone agree?
I like another minidemo.
Not LOTR3 it''s getting old.
How about a summer minidemo, with let''s say 1MB limit, no source requierd.

Just for showoff.

I''d like to see a last LOTR contest. Would be really nice! :-)

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened...

I''d say definitely a game. Maybe, to make it interesting, we could add some constraints - say, make a 16kb game (bigger than the 2k games around to give more scope, and because we want more than one entry), or make a game which adheres to a particular theme (say ''speed'', or ''configuration'' or something, I dunno, it''s nearly 2am and my eyes are going blurry )

How about a game where the gameplay has to involve ''vision''. I dunno, something like a pursuit game where if you can''t see the target at any time you lose?

Final, last gasp - how about a game implemented entirely on the graphics card? Written in Cg or glslang or whatever, with some standard C/C++ bootstrap code that loads your shaders and passes in input. I dunno if that''s actually possible, but it''d be a nifty trick if it were.
To do that you need booth scatter and gather functionality and that is not possible until Pixelshaders 3.0 and nv40.
but even then you would have to write special c code for it, so it won''t work.

I think a minigame is a pretty great idea for a contest; I''d have fun with that.

By the way, will this contest be sponsored by Creative? It looks like not, since NeHe said he was buying prizes...

How about a music demo of some kind since music and graphics go together hand in hand. It will be like the last contest but entries will also be judged based on how they best fit the music. Having high quality flashy graphics won''t necessarily mean you will win; and will leave room for the low-level people, like me, to have a chance.
