Hello,

Can anyone recommend me a good (canonical) book on game GUI? If there are no canonical books, can anyone recommend me a canonical book on general UI programming?

Thanks.

There are none. Really, books on ui development are far too rare. But this is golden: http://sol.gfxile.net/imgui/

Wow, great resource, thank you :)
Immediate mode UI (as linked above) is fairly straight forward and easy to get started in, you may also want to read up on retained mode UIs, both have their benefits and drawbacks depending on your particular use case.
@rethan, agreed.

But there are no resources on writing retained mode UI's as far as i know. The knowledge i have on the topic of retained mode comes from having to dissect in house engines.

If anyone has any resources to retained mode game uis i would be rather interested in reading up on it.
