Logic Pro X

So, three months after getting a new computer and finally upgrading to Logic Pro 9, Apple pulls a surprise move and out of the blue releases Logic Pro X. I've been looking for this to come out for a while, and after holding out forever and finally giving up three months too early, I don't know what to think.

Anyway, for any of you who have taken the plunge I'd like to know what you think. One thing that I'm very interested in is the new score editor. Since upgrading to my new computer my older version of Sibeilus hasn't worked and I've held off on updating it for now. I never liked the score editor in Logic and I'm hoping the new improvements will be good enough so that I don't have to upgrade my Sibelius.

So what do you guys thing of the new Logic?

I've not purchased it yet but SFLogicNinja did a really nice overview. I've got to tell you - it's looking pretty good to me. Especially if they've fixed some of the long standing bugs, but to be honest I never had as much crashing issues as some other users. Some folks will say "oh DAW X has had that feature for 2 years" and that might be true - but I already know so much of the ins and outs of Logic that I'm excited. I'm especially pumped about it only being 64-bit. The old Logic drove me crazy with having certain features (like export audio to movie) under 32-bit but not 64-bit. Really created some headaches if I was scoring a large session and wanted to show the client my work embedded in the movie.

I'll probably be buying it within a few weeks myself. I always like to let the dust settle just a bit to avoid any major bumps.

Hope that helps,

Nate

I think I'm going to wait about 6 months or so to let any bugs be ironed out, but if you do get it soon let me know how the transition is.

I was really excited to see great reviews getting posted. I've had the student license for Logic 9 and have been holding out, hoping that Logic wouldn't go the way of Final Cut... Once I get the cash I'm in. Thanks for the video post, btw, ALF.

Hahahahahaha! Yes! After having that avatar for several years, you're the first person to call me that. Well done! :P

Took the plunge - I'll let you know how everything goes after I've had a chance to play with it some.

A few hours in and I already love it. Zero problems upgrading.

Great except for the new dark background, and everything being bigger. But everything else is an improvement.
