I am the same name in the Yo-forums and I believe as well that we've met ingame when you were working on one of your art projects and I was having a freebies sale. lol. I will boycott as well. Their other games don't compare. As for showing your age....... Honey, I played the original PONG!!! lol

HAHA PONG!!!!! Good gravy do I remember that game! I remember spending hours typing in 2000+ lines of code just to get a lighting streak to appear on my computer.

I play Yoville, as does my sister, my niece has played, my sister-in-law, my husband and we all pay to play. Yoville has never been free for us. Every month my bank statements are loaded with yocash purchases. I even have farmville 2 active, that has cash sitting on it, but I abandoned those games for Yoville. I think I still have $250. worth of cash sitting on my Cityville account, which I have not logged into for many many months. We don't mind paying to play... but to watch it all go away... saddens me. Zynga doesn't want my money anymore. And I am more then sure I will find something else to occupy my needs and desires... but with Yoville closing, so does my pocketbook towards Zynga. ALL games will be deleted and I will move on to a more reputable company or start investing in an Indie publisher. I have no qualms raising a Fynga to Zynga!!

There is NO game like it on the market.

Are you are experienced and informed about every other game in existance?
If you said, 'I have personally never seen any other game like it', that might be accurate.
But saying, 'There is no other game like it', is inaccurate.

I have a question I'm hoping you can answer. So, if Big Viking Games does buy back Yoville, what does that do the game as it stands, and to the players in the process? Is it possible that it can continue on and all the exchange be done behind the scenes so we don't lose what we've worked for all these years?

Yes, definitely they can preserve the data.

Do they have to close it for awhile to make that transition?

Maybe for a day or two (a week, if something goes wrong), maybe just overnight.

If Zynga actually lied to you, and promised you services over the six months that were never provided, seek legal advise.
Maybe the lawyer can demand Zynga to return every user's payments over the past six months... OR 'settle' the lawsuit by transferring ownership of the game to Big Viking for free. If a lawyer actually analyzes it, and sees that Zynga actually broke the law, then use it as leverage to get them to hand over the game. If they are strapped for cash, and a real lawyer with a real lawsuit (not a bunch of raving fans pretending that they'll file a lawsuit) threatens Zynga that Zynga will have to pay ($15 * 6 months * 50,000 subscribers + legal fees), Zynga might be pleased to see a way to get out of it without paying, if all they have to do is give up the rights to YoVille.

Talk to a real lawyer.

This is a brilliant idea! Many of us have discussed actually talking to a real lawyer as some are now getting responses to Zynga saying that the case is closed and they will NOT be issuing refunds even though some are still having automatic withdrawals coming out of their bank accounts for the VIP membership as recently as today.... AFTER the announcement that the game is ending. Definitely not fair at all. None of us have thought it would be worth going to court over $18 a month for such a short time but if it would gain leverage for Big Viking then it could very well be worth it. I know I'd donate my share of it to make that sale more feasible. I'm going to take this to the masses and we'll keep you posted.

Again, you have been VERY helpful. I don't know what we would do without you all helping us with your knowledge and wisdom regarding these things.

Well, automatic withdrawals are subject to chargeback within 6 weeks (at least in the EU, but I guess it's none different elsewhere seeing how automatic withdrawals are usually not verified by the bank). Insofar these are not truly an issue. If your people are unhappy with that and if they are are unauthorized.

However, they are probably entirely legitimate for now, if Zynga continues service for another 90 days. You can still benefit from your VIP membership while the game is running, after all. Insofar, I'd be a bit careful both about complaining and about charging back, you might see a surprise.

I'm generally curious with this statement, could elaborate on what type of surprise people might get?
Check out https://www.facebook.com/LiquidGames for some great games made by me on the Playstation Mobile market.

They aren't giving us the agreed items that are part of the VIP package though even though the game is still going.

I would be quite open to trying my hand at an app/game that was similar. So, if you would wish to climb down off of your grammar-nazi pedestal... feel free to educate me.

In your search, please remove any games/apps that are
* mission based - and/or engineered towards unplayability w/o the use of premium items.
* limited in inventory

* Played on a phone

Please direct your search towards those that include all of the following:

*interactive chat... I must be able to change my text color if I so choose, also must be able to dance, do sit ups and a nice selection of other click to command actions.

*Interactive items and clothing. I like when my hair blows in the wind while I'm jumping up and down on the bouncy while I'm talking to a handful of other LIVE avatars in a room.

*The ability to change the weather in game. Sometimes I like when I can make my room rain, or blow leaves around, and I especially enjoyed the snow falling over Christmas.
*Free roaming. I don't want to have to go to point A to collect Item B and bring it back to the person at point C.... free roam. That means, log in and do whatever you want to do because there are zero missions. (there are optional jobs in Yoville, to win silly prizes, but they are just that. optional. You don't have to do them to move forward in the game.

* In home purchasing is an absolute must. If I want to play the game solo, I have every thing I need right on my HUD. I can change anything on a whim w/o ever stepping foot into the LIVE section of the game.

* A buddy list I can turn on and off. If I'm being anti-social, then I can log in anonymously and do my thing w/o anyone knowing I'm in game.

*A seperate web site available that I can quickly and easily view my (mostly) entire inventory. This website should also have the ability to allow me to visit my friends and leave them messages that are directed to their in game message box. It would please the masses if that said website also allowed you to purchase items straight from it, without the need to log into game. And it just has to have the ability to click on any room in any home of yours (and others) and tell you exactly what is in each room. This is very useful for when searching our storage homes.

*in game gambling/slots/car races you can wager on (the payouts stink, but a few of my friends did indeed win the 1 Million coins from the Casino.)

* Fishing (yea, it's loathsome and boring, but to us '09'ers.. one of the best places we used to make some coin.)

* a bank - pet store (we want the aility to name our pets for free. We also need to be able to have a pet follow us around if we want. - car store (that we can actually drive around in)- ranch (with horses we can actually ride on) -clothing store - music store - furniture store - a wall/floor depot - nightclub - diner - beach - salon with hotub!!! and something very close to Alton Towers. And a way to make free coins everyday in game, without the use of surveys or other gimmicks, kinda like our Factory.

* Free unlimited gifts (the more active neighbors you have the more money you can make)

* the ability to meet live in game with other players to trade goods with

*Full customization of your avatar/homes... also must allow unlimited # of homes to be used w/o a monthly fee attached or capped off after 10 homes. (Some folks in YO have 250+ homes!!)

* The ability to create a design for the actual game and being able to strive to have your creation made and sold in game using your chosen forum name. (I love you Chunk07 and Carbee and all of you other creative geniuses who entered the contests. The photoshopping skills these amatuer designers have BLOW my mind!!)

*I have got to be able to dress in my '70s style and breakdace in front of the YoMart. So please be sure I can rock an afro with my bell bottoms and peace sign sunglasses while busting my moves to some strange tunes on top of my card board box. This is an absolute must!!! And if it is similar to YO, then I could have that YoMart-type place looking like the inner city streets of the Bronx. Why? Because I <3 New York, that's why. (and Yoville...) ;)

I'm sure I could go on.. but that's the majority of it. Who knows, your search could make you our YoHero!! (I don't own a YoHero though... hmmmm)...

A chargeback costs considerable money, here it is around 20-25 dollars. If you do a chargeback but the originally withdrawing party has a legitimate claim (which I think they do, since you have a contract and they are so far still fulfilling it), then they now have a legitimate claim against you for both the withdrawn money plus the chargeback fee, plus any additional real and alleged costs that they invent because they had to process the chargeback and chase the invoice and whatnot.

In the worst case, your unjustified chargeback might be called a fraudulent act. That's somewhat far-fetched, but you never know what way a shady lawyer twists things.

And then you only need to be inconsiderate for a moment and make a public statement how they are pulling a fast one on you, and what kind of a disreputable company they are, possibly with some less kind words, and you may as well get persecuted for libel (and have a civil lawsuit for the "damage to their reputation"), if you are really unlucky.

Insofar, I would be cautious about doing anything harsh. Best be 100% sure first. Most probably those automatic withdrawals are 100% "legitimate" because they happen in line with a yet persisting subscription (which is a form of contract) and for which they still fulfill their part (at least for those remaining 89 or 90 days.

That seems a bit uncalled for, particularly as Servant has been extremely generous with time and information to other YoVille fans in the last couple of days.

With regard to your specific features list, I suspect that you know that another game is unlikely to duplicate them all exactly, but are all of them "must-haves", exactly as written? If, for example, you found a game that was a clone of YoVille in every way except for the ability to change the weather, would you refuse to play it?

I think that it's important to realize that the key feature of YoVille for most players, the thing that makes it so special, is the emotional investment players have with it. At least, that's the overwhelming impression I get from reading the various posts YoVille players have been sharing with us. I can sympathize-- many video game players feel strongly about particular games.

However, emotional investment from players isn't much of a business case for someone else to take over the game, nor is it enough to convince a Zynga to save it (or sell it). Game developers, especially those looking to invest, probably have a pretty acute sense of types of games on the market within a given niche. If a potential buyer hears, as the main thrust of your argument, that there is literally no game on the market that can deliver a similar experience (absent the emotional value the game has for you) they are unlikely to believe you, because they know that there are mechanically similar games out there.

If YoVille is down for four months while Big Viking prepares to re-launch it on their own servers, how certain can they be that a similar game might not entice some players away in the interim? If a player promises to stay with the game because it's unique, and the developer doesn't think the game is quite that unique, how much can the developer really depend on that player coming back and pumping money into the project?

I really think that your efforts would be better directed at organizing YoVille players, presenting information as a business case for keeping or buying the game, and other suggestions upthread than they are snapping at people just for suggesting that a similar game might exist. As things stand, Zynga has YoVille headed for the block, and in the little time remaining to change this you might consider listening to a game developer's response to your argument instead of sarcastically dismissing it.

There is nothing like Yoville on the market. Sims/IMVU/Avataria/VCruise cannot compare, sure you can decorate a farm or one of the other mindless apps, but they are not the same.

Have YoVille players looked into Second Life?
