Hey everyone!

I put together that movie that I promised you guys yesterday. It deals about the thunderstorm weather effects I've been making for my Dogfight Engine. It's pretty cool I guess, but unfortunately, my mic broke, so it's pretty much a silent movie.

Dogfight Engine: Weather Effects (12-ish MB)

Anyways, enjoy!

Looking good, I was gonna say that the middle two scenes were looking a bit dark but you sorted it out in the last one

Nice work, Sir Sapo! The sound effects and gray background really add to the atmosphere. Suggestions:

a) I still think the clouds needs to be thicker. In the midst of a storm there's seldom such big gaps where you can see up above the cloud cover.

b) The rain seems to come out of the clouds based on a certain fixed angle, which looks sort of weird. How about dropping the rain droplets normally (zero X velocity) and letting some variable wind amount (do you have wind? I could've sworn it looked like it in the last video) and accelerating the rain droplets in the direction of the wind, so it looks more natural.

c) The second lightning effect of having the screen flash white is WAY better than turning the scene to 'day-time' for a moment. Keep it. :)

d) A cool effect for thunder would be to have little short glows/lights occur inside the storm clouds.

e) I really hope to see a cool lightning bolt effect. :D

f) The ship crashing is awesome! I love the way the pieces of the ship go flying and interact so nicely with the terrain.

Great work, SS!

Yeah, it took me awhile to get the lighting right, but I think it's good now.

@Hopedagger - Thanks for the praise

Yeah, I had to reduced the cloud density in order to get the movie recording framerate up high enough.

Yeah, I'll have to fix that....

Thank You!

Hmmm... *gets to coding*

I'm working on a procedural one, but we'll probably have Mark draw one up sooner or later...

Thanks, I'm working on some cool mid-air explosion deaths (ie. from weapons), so stay tuned for a movie of that....

That would be the funniest military technology reference:
