Hey everyone!

Nice meaty update for you guys tonight, so read on!

Gunz!
Well, over the past couple of days I've been implementing weapons, and I must say, the game is alot more fun now that you can actually shoot things! Mark got back a couple days ago and he cranked out an in-game sprite of the Sniper Rifle in the game, as you can see in the mini-screeny below. The weapons work by overlaying an image on top of the armless protagonist to make him look different when holding the different weapons. Also, since the overlay is completely done in a texture, Mark can animate the weapons to his hearts content, which results in some pretty awesome things, as you'll see in a later screeny....

Rats!!!
What good is a gun if you have nothing to shoot at? Mark also supplied me with a "Zombie Rat" sprite, so I got to work implementing these little guys and giving them rudimentary AI, as you can see below. Anyways, they can be killed by the weapons I just implemented, and they have a cool death sprite, which is accentuated by the following....

Blood!!!
Most of Mark and I's games have been relatively "sterile", meaning that they were never super violent or gory. Well, for this game we kinda want to shift the paradigm and make this one pretty bloody, I mean cummon its a zombie game[wink] Anyways, I made an add-on to the blood pools from my last post, making them slowly grow as time goes on. This results in the cool effect of killing a creature, and then watching a pool of blood form around its corpse. Now, this is pretty cool by itself, but Mark came up with the idea of having the large guns leave a spray of blood behind whatever they hit, so I coded that up as well, and I must say, the results are quite vivid, as you can see in the screenshot below, showcasing all the cool stuff in the game as of tonight...

Sound!!!!
Now, the only thing cooler than exploding an evil rat with a high power sniper rifle is doing the same thing, only with cool sound effects. Well, fear not because thanks to me thinking ahead when I made the A22 Sound system, I was able to plug it into FoT and get some kickass sounds playing when stuff happens. The Sniper Rifle shot is incredibly cool, and adds a whole lot to the feeling of the game. Now all I have to do is find a dying rat sound....

Demo
Mark and I have decided that this game will be a "Demo every week" type game, where we release new versions as soon as we get cool stuff done, so you guys can all test the game out and let us know what you think. We still have a few small things to fix before we release a demo, so check back often to see if we've posted a demo.

Well, thats all for now, let us know what you think! Peace Out!

I'm gonna have to agree with the Prinz on this one. No particular comment, other than that it looks pretty ownage. Some nice lighting effects would be badass, but I guess you can only do so much.

Thanks!

I'm thinking some simple lighting might be in order, but stuff like shadows may be a little too advanced for the scope of the game (although it would be incredibly kickass)
