Well, Shit.

This is going to be one of those journal entries that hurts to read only slightly less than it hurts to type: it turns out due to the internet situation at College is going to be irreconcilable with testing (i.e. making) Dogfight. :

Yeah, I'm sorry too. I'm very sorry. All right, you're sorrier than I am, but I am as sorry as well... I am as sorry as you are! Don't say that you're more sorry than I am, because I'm capable of being just as sorry as you are. So we're both sorry, all right?... All right.

Plan D

Soooo.... we've been trying to think of a fun singleplayer game that isn't Angels 22 or LAB 81(although we are going to release both in one form or another), and isn't very AI intensive.

So far we're thinking about a top-down space shooter game that may turn into more of an action-adventure type thing, with mining stuff and some missions. We'd like it to be more sandbox-y than our other games, like you are set loose on an asteroid field to mine, steal, or destroy anything you feel like.

It'd have more of a space pirate-cowboy type feel, with a fights over mining rights and a big base-type asteriod where you can trade ore for cash, and upgrade your ship(or buy a new one).

The idea is to combine the fun of shooting stuff in space with the addiction of making money and buying upgrades.

We're also thinking of adding different factions that would affect what you could mine/buy, and that would also allow us to use some of the Axis Shift of old. Part of the idea is that if you pirate a little to heartily, you're going to get a full-size battlecruiser sicked on your ass, and that isn't good.

LAB 81

So Fortress of Tower(as it's known in some quarters) is progressing... forward-ly. It's not exciting for either of us, especially after the big Angels 22 2 letdown, but by god, we're gonna finish it.

I mentioned a thinking about a boss in a previous entry, and here's the starting artwork:

That's the head -if it gets in the game, it'll have some big ol' robot arms to smash you with, plus some turrets or somethin'. To defeat it, you will have to take out the brain in a jar.

I'll leave you with some death animations(the player's death is going to involve a lot of in-game effect stuff):

-Goodnight!

I assume your college's firewall doesn't like UDP a whole lot?

Why the emphasis on AI-light? Sir Sapo not real enthusiastic about AI work?

Your new project sounds just a teeny bit like Privateer in some aspects. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you guys can pull together. The description is a tad vague in some areas, but sounds very fascinating.

<3 teh artz. Lemme know if you ever get sick of working with Sir Sapo :P
