So, I figure it would be really nice for everyone to see the evolution of the project. What better way then to show you where I am right now! Unfortunatly you are going to have to have Microsoft Visual C++ Express Edition installed on your PC, along with DirectX9 or greater. So lets get to the goodies, heres your like:

Rides the short bus
So this game isnt all there yet. Here is a few things you should keep in mind for this version:

- During gameplay once blocks clear the blocks ontop of those do not fall down. I kind of like it this way, yet it cant stay like this for the Arcade mode, im going to have to figure out a way I can incorporate this into my Advanced mode, possibly through some sort of powerup.

- On the main menu, the Credits and Options are not complete. I havent created the new artwork for them yet, and I defiantly havent filled them in completly. They will be rolled over to the newer style of the Arcade mode and Quit menus/buttons.

- When you chose a new game, where your active peices were on the board are where its going to start when you enter a new game, a small issue with not resetting the starting location, cant fix from work :(

- Im not 100% confident in my time based animation system so make sure to let me know if it seems like its a little fast or slow. Also, if you changed to windowed mode in the options there is an issue with mouse coordinates, they are a little off. A bug I plan on fixing soon.

Tell me I suck, or not hopefully
So yet again, im going to harass you for input. Let me know what you think, what bugs you find, or anything for that matter relative to the project. I really enjoy players comments so feel free to express your thoughts, no matter how rude they might be :)

In closing
So, in closing I just want you all to know that from this point on expect many more playable demos to come. There is still alot planned for this game and what I have down in my docs will be a dream to play :) I really enjoy this project so far and think it shows alot more quality then anything i've made to date. Im growing here ppl, I hope you can enjoy watching me sprout :)

Constructive Feedback:

- Allow the player to advance the initial screens via space, return, click, etc.

- Allow the player to drop a combination quicker via space bar

- Does the game revolve around just dropping 2 tiles at a time? I don't think I know what game you are modeling this after. It doesn't feel challenging, more so than it just feels like luck. 2 Tiles, 2 Colors.

As it stands, the arcade mode takes just a very long time to get through. Actually, so long, I lost patience and jumped off the ship already. I think allowing the player to drop the tiles when he/she wants too will fix this.

Overall, pretty interesting project. Keep it up!

OMG I got a reply:

Well first off the arcade mode isnt complete :) You cant beat it yet. What will happen when its finished is when you make blocks clear after you clear a certain ammount of them your level will increase. When your level goes up the speed at which the blocks fall is increased. Arcade mode is an endurance game. You might have seen this game before, I dont know many of its iterations but I do know the most famous would be Dr. Mario - the viri. Adding in a feature to make you auto drop the blocks is also something I need to add, I just havent gotten around to it yet.

The basic reason for releasing this is so that you can see where we are right now, and what it changes into. Right now the mechanics behind the game are there, the goal isnt :)

Thanks for trying it out, your one of the only people to download, and THE only person to reply. Thanks!

Ahhh, I didn't even think about Dr. Mario! Okay, gotcha!

Yeah, I wasn't writing my post in regard to thinking this was the final product. I was just writing it on the basis of tinkering with it for a few minutes.

Once you allow the player to drop the blocks, things should go much smoother.

unfortunately I have visual studio 2008 express installed, and even with the c++ 2005 redistribution I cant run the game. I believe its because vc++ 2008 express and the vc++ 2005 redistribution don't have the debug dll's which your game seems to be linking to.

The screen shot in the previous post looks pretty good though, I am too lazy to install 2005 at the moment so I cant try it out.

Also, if your looking for good hosting...check out host gator. They are awesome.

On a final note, I like the idea your making a simple game. Don't let the mmo wannabe kids fool you into thinking your doing something that doesn't matter, At least you will FINISH a game. I also made a reply to your questions in my journal if you wanted to read that.

please link with the release vc++ libs :D.
