At the beginning of 2020, I begin to start learning on using Unreal Engine. In the beginning, I focused on just watching a bunch of beginners and introduction videos. After some weeks, it is when I tried getting into actually using the software.
I remember when I first learn about Unreal, I was pretty intimated by it because it looks pretty complicated. The interface, blueprints and especially the material graph looks.. difficult to master. So fast travel to today after a few months of on and off learning and experimenting, I am pretty confident that I can use this software to create a game. I think my 3 years’ background in using Unity helps to learn Unreal faster.
Right now I understand the basics techniques of using the materials, the character animations, lightings, blueprints, and level building. The more I learn, the more excited I become!, Unreal is just a really awesome piece of game engine software! & it’s Free!. In the upcoming weeks, I will be going into learning A.I, particles and more in depth into materials.
I plan to convert one of my bigger game project on Unity to Unreal in a few months. Currently I am also making a short Singapore first person game in Unreal and is aiming to release it by 2020. ‘Noosphere’ will perhaps be my last Unity game.
