Interlude

So my best friend from high school was in town yesterday. He's currently doing his Phd working on compiler design. It's strange since he was a electrical engineer in undergrad and I was the computer science major, and now he's the one worrying about pointer analysis.

We had an interesting conversation, one of the upshots being that I'm very glad I'm no longer working in straight C any more. And I'm also glad that I can enforce coding standards in the projects I work on. Some of the stuff he had to deal with because code he was given wouldn't compile cleanly (without warnings) was just too much. I also mentioned the cow game to him. He found the idea hilarious.

I also had a Black Cherry IBC. Mmmm. Soda.
