Got items working:

I like this screenshot alot. Just the idea of the minigun sitting all high and mighty on the block pyramid makes me laugh. I guess I just have a strange sense of humor...

Luckily many people here also have strange senses of humour. :)

(How about a glowing border or something around pickups so that the player notices them more easily?)
