How do I get the CDROM working?

So, the DVD and the CDRW go into one group called cdrom? I would think they would be in different groups so that when I insert the device /dev/cdrom into KsCD it knows which one I want it to play.

group cdrom is only permissions, it has nothing to do with anything else. your user has permission to access any file in the group 'cdrom,' so you put thsoe optical disk drives into that group.
