whats the best plugin for photoshop that will let me tile textures, i know the 'tile maker' plugin comes with it but that unacceptable cause A/ its very instable B/ it does a crap job. it looks like it just does a linear blend of the edges

You dont need a plugin to tile really.

Say you have a 256x256 image. Then start making 64x64 (or whatever) pictures, and then cut and pasting them into the 256x256 image. There is (was? been a long time since i saw it) an example of this in the DX documentation. Theres a image file they use to texture a walking female, I think its called 'tiny.something'. Basically it is what I just described.

If you are looking to make a tile be able to repeat itself without noticable edges there is an awesome program called Texture Maker. There's over 10 different filters for this. The trial version only allows like 128x128 images to save.
