This isn't really compiling, but my friend made a scene in Maya that took so long to render that we had to leave the computer on overnight at school and when we got back the next day it still took another hour.

By far, my 4 Elements contest entry. It probably took a whopping 45 seconds on my Celeron 466.

...does that make me any less of a programmer? Maybe that ought to be a bit of motivation to do more programming....
compiling QT on a celeron 400mhz so I could then compile kde :P, took nearly half a week (and I QT, broke 3 times and I had to edit the sources).
I would feel bad for anybody that compiled a source that took more than two days to build, only to have it come up with some stupid syntax error you didn't know existed.

On topic: A 300+ line gradekeeping program in C++, took ~30 seconds on my slow-as-heck computer.

hmm.. the Delphi compiler is super fast. The game i was making was done in a few seconds. And that was the longest 'thing'.
