As far as i know, Java isnt an option so far. Gotta do what the boss wants, ya know. In any case, I'm more comfortable in c++ than java (for opengl anyways). As for the security problems, i'm not quite sure about the deployment of the app, but most likely the users will be informed to allow that control to run.
