Hi, I have a mesh that is blue. Something happened and the Mesh is now white and the polygon edges are blue. When I select the mesh it turns pure white and its hard as heck to see the edges. I must of hit a toggle. I hit a dead end on google. Anyone know how to get the mesh color back to blue with white edges? Thanks a bunch.

what modeling rpogram are you using?

O boy Im so sorry. 3dstudio max 8. Im so careless :/

I had assigned a material to it and no longer use it. I want to just get it back to a colored mesh because I need to do much more work on it. I think assigning the material did this. Not sure how to undo it.
well i will try to help you but it would be soo much easier if you could post a pic of it. i use 3ds max but i use 7 so i may not be able to help. you can post a pic using imageshack.us if you want.

EDIT; well if you assigned a material to it just select your mesh, then hit #1 and then yes and then #2 and then #3 in this pic, http://img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled1copy1ie1.jpg (sorry too lazy to make it clickable:)

please tell me if this fixes it or not, your description is sort of vague so i'm assuming the above is what you need.

That is what I tried first but its still wrong. Its like the edges and the polygons reversed colors. The edges used to be white and the polygons whatever color i picked. For instance, I picked red and now the polygons arent red, the edges are.

I posted pic

the way i want it here:
this is selected

I think you're set to edit the vertices somewhere instead of the overall mesh. Well, or edges, or something. Well, no, that doesn't seem to be it, either.

I know I've had that same problem, but I can't quite reproduce it right now.

You can always just create a dummy red material to temporarily hack through the problem...

judgeing from the pictures, you have all the edges permanently selected for that model, you must have hit some hot-key. i hate that, in 3ds max they have a billion hot-keys, even thier hot-key map doesn't list them all. give me a little bit an di'll see if i can find out what the hot-key was. do you perhaps remember what your were doing when this happened?

it happened after I UVmapped. i need to get it to the default state somehow.

Also no meshes are selected in those screenshots. I chose red as the color of my mesh. It could be green, blue, orange, but I chose red. I know that kind of looks like a selection, but its not.

Just to update in case anyone ever has the same problem I was able to finally solve this and get it back to the defaults for 3ds Max8

Utilities panel -> Utilities rollout -> More button -> Utilities dialog -> UVW Remove

Then I removed materials and the model is back to normal in the mesh view. I removed the material before but it didnt put it back to default. Using this tool fixed it.
To remove the UVW, I think you can also right-click Remove, or drag it to the trash can (from the modifier stack) - but I'm using V7.

Glad that worked!
