Text adventure for the win.

Just out of curiosity, are you writing it from scratch, or using an authoring language like Inform?

Scratch. It's going to be featuring time-based combat too!
Wow. I'll brush up on my speed-typing skills! [grin]
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.

I played a text-based game like that a few years ago...
Whenever you started a battle, it would give you a word to type, and a countdown timer. If you typed the word correctly before time ran out, you won.

It was actualy one of the most fun text-based combat systems I've seen.
3d... but I did think about 2d in the beginning but then changed designs and 3d better suited the new design
Both - 2d overview to switch between fleets and manage your empire, 3d for the travel and battle sections of the game. Plus, it can switch smoothly between them.
