DWORD boundaries

When someone says "a scanline must end on a dword boundary" is that basically saying the total number of bytes of the scanline must be divisible by 4 (assuming a dword is 4 bytes)?

Yes, you're right. A the number of bytes in a bitmap's scanline must be a multiple of 4 bytes.
