What terrain technique is most commonly used? I mean which one is most useful. (clod, quadtrees, bruteforce, roam)

That's a loaded question. AFAIK there's been no research into which terrain rendering methods are the most popular. But I've certainly seen Geomipmapping used in quite a few games. It's simple and effective and works well with modern GPU architecture.
For relatively small environments bruteforce is probably the best way to go.
Anything larger tho, and GeoMipmapping seems to be the most popular.
