As for renaming zip files on a PC, that works until you try emailing them. Email scanners are smart enough to recognise the zip header and unzip them to scan anyway, unless of course you password protect them.

Dude! You email your porn to other people? You gotta add me to your mailing list!

Yeah!

I put my porn folder in my Projects folder under a directory named BumpMappingExperiment.

Sooo. Tell me, how do I hide my 70gb of pr0n? I don't think hiding it in a game folder will work. It doesn't all fit on my games hard drive... Mind you, I own the computer, so it generally doesn't need to be hidden, even so. The exercise is amusing.

Under Windows XP (Pro), you can mount disks as folders. You just have all your porn in a seperate partition and mount is somewhere in the Windows folder. Perhaps apply some hidden / system file attributes.

Alternatively, you could add a folder.ini(Not sure about file name) where you can add in code which is being run before Explorer shows the folder. Hardcode a password in it, and 99% of the people won't be able to open it.

Toolmaker

I put all my porn in c:\porn\just kidding\lol\lol\lol\porn. So far I haven't had any problems.
i have my porn in this directory E:/videos... if its your machine why hide it?

I put sensitive files in various places. Back in the 9x days you could rename a folder in DOS and it wouldn't open in Windows... that was quite nice, but simple.

I actually like this program these days:

TrueCrypt

It's open source and has pretty much all the encrypted volume features you want. You can make volume files with any extension, hide the volume in between partitions on your hd. Hell, I know people that have hidden encrypted volumes of gibberish and their real data encrypted again in one of the gibberish files.
From reading some of the posts here, I feel like I am the only person who doesnt have porn/porn folder on my pc!

lol, am I the only one?

Somethings you may have not thought of (I am a Windows programmer...)
1)When you download a file the Save As dialog remembers the lcoation. Not good when someone else wants to download something.
2)Recent Documents lists
3)Programs which list you last 3/5/10 files in the File menu.

And also, I'd find it suspicious in itself if your "Recent Documents" was empty - what are you hiding?!

Nope, me neither. I got bored with that when Compuserve was the rage.

Sadly, this was the first way I read it-- speed reading can play tricks sometimes.
