Weird MIDI Question

I'm working on converting a 20-years-old arcade game to a windows platform arcade machine. So here's the thing. The old machines used two AWE32 sound cards- one was hooked up to the front speakers and the other to the rear speakers. MIDI was used for all the sound effects (with the help of soundfonts) and the two sound cards were actually necessary in order to achieve MIDI surround sound. So after looking over the sound system, I've realized that because the MIDI features were heavily used, it would be painfully difficult to put the resources in any other format. Also, I'd have to recode the entire audio system. Meanwhile, the new machines use Audigy sound cards that have two hardware midi synths. My question is: Is anyone aware of any way in which I could direct one hardware synth to the front speakers and the other to the rear speakers? I've been searching for the better part of a week with no luck. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks! Slink
