That and not to mention having to type extra six characters. Might not seem much, but as you use inline functions more, this can amount to thousands of extra typed lines, resulting in tremendous energy and time losses.

Well, to whatever extent that it was: Six (seven, including the space) characters per function is meaningless, a drop in the bucket. Even if it weren't, though, you'd use many more characters writing out definition+declaration than you would with inline.
