Can you convert a point list into a sprite list using the geometry shader with dx10?

God no-one even knows... doesnt anyone use dx10?!??!
Now, I have never used DX10 or geometry shaders but I pasted "Can you convert a point list into a sprite list using the geometry shader with dx10?" into Google.

The first hit contains the following sentence by someone from Microsoft discussing DX10 geometry shaders: "We can do things like take a point and generate a set of triangles around that point and expand it into a sprite."

Are you saying that you did not do this 10-second action during the several hours between your two posts? Why?

pleased to know you can, im looking at this for a rastered voxel engine btw.
There are examples of this in the DirectX SDK Samples. For example FixedFuncEMU in the GSPointmain shader.
