I guess depending on where I place objects the perspective stuff still happens...

what is the best way to lessen this effect? Should I find the focal point where it's best to put objects in? I was hoping to have a room with objects in it but as it is the perspective distortion is very unappealing.

Could you post a picture please?
I asked once: how wide is the field of view?
Right now the camera is about 100 pixels from the camera with a 400x400 resolution window, if this means anything for you, and it actually seems to be possibly ok now...I'm not sure without more testing. as long as I stay within a certain distance from the plane i shoot rays through things seem ok...but more insight on this would be great.
Just what are you expecting?
It will be distorted as hell.

Use your imagination, why is it so distorted.

You have to use values that are at leas a bit similar to real life.

is your head 100 pixels away from the screen? No.
Work out proper proportions with real life geometry: the sizes of an average monitor, and the distance between your eye and the monitor's screen. It's elementary stuff.

I didn't want to sound harsh, but I'm a bit sleepy now.
