Some comedy can definitely be a good thing. But the problem is you have to 1) Time it right 2) Know your audience and what they think is funny 3) Actually BE funny. We all get ideas sometimes that WE think are funny (in our own little heads) but other people will just look at us stupid. :) So make sure you use friends and un-biased test audiences to see their reactions. If your joke comes off as lame, then it just makes your game look dumb. People might not know if it was a failed joke or just something a trained monkey wrote. ;) So be careful, and subject to peer review before you publish.
