sli programming, do you have to do anything special?

say i had 2 video cards going simultaniously, is there anything super special i have to do to get them to work in parallel with direct x, or is this automatic?

I think it is, but im not sure... can someone please clarify this silly thing to ask for me, cause id like to purchase an sli motherboard, if its worth it and itll
work with my own programming.

As far as I recall, it should be automatic for fullscreen apps in D3D9. SLI introduces some issues with synchronizing contents across the boards which can be tracked using appropriate profilers.
I'm still not quite sure SLI makes any sense for gaming but I'm fairly sure it makes no sense at all for learning. Even a low-end card will provide more than enough perf for you for the next years.
