does anyone have any good books and website recommendations for a beginner wanting to learn and understand directx? i want to find a very indepth but simple to understand tutorial on how direct x works and information of the devicepointer...beginscene...endscene...and much more!

You can choose one of the Frank Luna's books according to which version of directx you want to learn. I read dx 9 version and it is pretty good in my opinion.
