Looking for Game Programming "internship"

I don't think you're ready for an internship in games. You should practice on your own and build a few simple games and familiarize yourself with the basics of drawing to the screen, game loops, timing, input, collision detection and response, etc. Interns typically have at least that much experience and are pulled on to help learn more complex game systems and architecture, not the bare basics of game development.
