I come from the QBasic community, and one of the major QBasic websites all of a sudden decided to move on to BlitzBasic, and in fact became a distributor in Germany for it.
He has tried to get a few of us to move to it, saying that it is very similar to QBasic, which is quite an easy language to use.
One of the sites you might want to check out is http://www.budfish.com/frame.html

The guy there uses it, so you can ask him how he feels about BlitzBasic. I reviewed his Pong game which he made in QBasic, so I would think any games he makes in Blitz would be decent as well.

I wouldn''t use BlitzBasic, because the lightning in it would be getting on my nerves.

i used dark basic and tried BB a couple times.. DB is closer to basic then BB.. but BB has types and other C style syntax. either one is good if you dont wanna have to worry about the whole DX/Opengl stuff. BUT one day you will get fed up with the limitations and just move on. And the one thing you need to consider if you get DBpro you will not be able to put a game out on the store shelves unless you fork over grand+.. or 200 for just one game.. shareware is ok. BB from what i understand you can do what you like with it.
