I have written in my spare time a little image library that loads .bmp, .tga and .jpeg/jpg files. This should be good for newbies as in opengl you can''t load them automatically or from memory. there are probably many bugs in it, so please tell me about them (beaton_john@hotmail.com) and i will see what i can do. the address is: http://imagedll.tripod.com/ImageDLL_v1.0.1.9_upload.zip have fun, and happy new year!!!

What makes this one better to use over, say, DevIL? DevIL is free to use, is open source, and support a LOT more image formats.

Yeah, you''re right. Why try? It''s all already been done better, faster, and more efficiently. And if you''re going to try, for the love of god don''t share your work with others. They may actually be able to learn something from a simpler implementation that hasn''t had it''s core functionality obfuscated to hell.

Oh no!He loaded one of the QUAKE III water textures! How did you do that man?

The PAIN is coming...this summer!!!In cinemas everywhere.
Jesus guys, he programs something for us to download, have, use, comment on etc and all that can come out of your mouths are statements such as "There is something better already, why even try." and "So and so is better, why not just use it?"

I mean honestly, if I remember to do so, the next time either of you come out with anything to show for your own obviously rigorous programmatical exercises, I''m going to berate you with such pointless things as "this engine sucks, just use the quake II engine, its free, its better."
before you post these inappreciative bullshit i suggest you come up with something useful for the community
otherwise just shut up it s really disappointing how many
fags there are out there

Well, maybe some projects don''t need all those image formats and would be better of with an easy-to-use lightweight library?

Exactly.

beaton_johns implementation is sufficient and easy. Would be even nicer of course if you could release the source code.

Ive released 2 modding tools to the Quake3 modding community in the past, and even though both have been discontinued for over a year, I still get emails regarding them. That enough to be helpful to the community? If not, lets add to the fact that Ive added quite a few coding tutorials to the list of those on Quakesrc.org, as well as maintain a Quake2 engine mod.

Are you that insecure about yourself that you have to begin making homophobic comments like that?

I put forward a valid question there, you dont need to make an ass of yourself in trying to shoot myself and others down.

"…What makes this one better to use over, say, DevIL? DevIL is free to use, is open source, and support a LOT more image formats…"

he released it for those who want to use it if you aren t one of those or already have your own one then don t post this bullshit here it s demotivation and makes you an ass

Thanks for your efforts. After my current game project, I''ll be learning 3D and this will be handy to make a game rather than chunking about
